The tender for “Modernization of sludge management in Radom” has been resolved. This task includes designing and carrying out works related to the modernization of sludge management, consisting in reducing the costs of thermal energy consumption by the existing sewage sludge drying plant. The project includes sludge fermentation with biogas production and cogeneration, as well as the use of a new thickener and piston presses for maximum sludge dewatering before drying. The required sludge dewatering degree on piston presses has been set at a minimum of 30% sm with polymer consumption not exceeding 10 kg AS/t sm. It is estimated that thanks to the use of two Bucher presses type HPS 7507, the energy consumption of the drying plant will drop by as much as 40%. In addition, the contract includes the modernization of the sludge thickening building, the sludge dewatering and drying building, the construction of new methane fermentation buildings, a social building with a control room, and facilities related to gas management. The task is being carried out in the yellow FIDIC formula (design and execute) and the general contractor of the investment is IDS-BUD from Warsaw. The planned date of completion of the investment is July 2015.
