The dynamic development of national infrastructure in the development of modern technologies for the management of municipal sewage sludge based on drying and incineration, characteristic of recent years, has clearly slowed down. New installations for drying and incinerating sludge are not currently being launched in series as in previous years. This trend is completely understandable. The national potential for the management of sewage sludge using thermal methods, with a share of 37% among other sludge processing methods, has reached a level that places Poland among the most advanced EU countries in this respect. This result, impossible to achieve without the broad involvement of many groups, and especially without the participation of EU funds, is a reason to be proud, because organizing sludge management is not only meeting specific requirements of Community law, but is also a significant step towards reducing the impact on the environment. From the planning strategy and the stage of construction of installations for drying and incinerating sludge, we have now moved to the role of operators of this type of new, previously practically non-existent in Poland, installations. This role is not easy, especially since many errors and shortcomings came to light at the design, construction, start-up and then in the first years of operation, which make it difficult and in some cases even impossible to achieve the planned efficiency and availability of new sludge dryers or incinerators. Moreover, there are still many "blank spots" on the sludge map of Poland, which urgently require the construction of such installations. Therefore, not everything in our industry is so optimistic that there will be no problems and topics to raise and discuss during the 7th edition of our Conference. The look at domestic problems in the field of operation of already built installations for drying and incinerating sludge, including projects for the construction of new installations, will be expanded with foreign presentations related to the latest trends in the field of municipal sewage sludge management, especially based on thermal methods. This is guaranteed by the traditionally extensive and multi-faceted program of the 7th edition of the Conference. As usual, the Conference annex includes a tour of the newly launched installation. This time it will be the newest belt dryer, which has been operating at the Centralna Sewage Treatment Plant in Toruń since the end of 2012. We cordially invite all our regular Participants, as well as new ones, on behalf of the scientific supervisor, Dr. Eng. Tadeusz Pająk Eur Ing and the Abrys company.
